Item Description

Alchuri is a well-known "Alpine"-type locality in the high mountains of Pakistan that has produced some beautiful crystals of Epidote and Clinozoisite that are quite similar to those from the European Alps. This piece is a confirmed Clinozoisite (which forms a series with Epidote) and is a very good quality example of the species. The piece comprises a handful of very sharp, highly lustrous, GEMMY, rich golden colored prismatic crystals free of matrix. The base of the piece is actually "re-healed" (re-crystallized), which technically makes the specimen doubly-terminated. The most interesting aspect of the specimen is the fact that the piece is slightly "bent" near the base, similar to what we see in certain crystals of Tourmaline that will "break" in the pocket during formation, only to resume their growth in a slight different direction. Overall, the piece is in great shape and this is a good sized example of Clinozoisite, as crystals rarely approach 9 cm long. Priced in the inventory at $950.
