Clinozoisite (Robertson Coll.)

Item Description

This obscure skarn deposit in Sonora has produced very fine clinozoisite and andradite garnet specimens in the past. Dramatic vivid pink, lustrous to matte, radial sprays of needles are scattered on all sides of the quartz-rich matrix. The striking large nearly complete spray is 2.0 cm across. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7755, acquired in October, 1975 and self-collected by Sol Shale. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Rarely available material today.
