Item Description
An incredibly rare specimen of Clinozoisite from the Genesee Valley in Plumas County, California. The piece features prismatic "sprays" of greenish-gold Clinozoisite free of matrix. The largest crystal measures 3.6 cm long. Minor Quartz is associated on the back. It's in good shape overall, and many of the crystal groups are terminated, or at least have contact terminations where they clearly grew against the pocket wall. A cool oddball piece to add to a suite of California minerals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#914). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
