Item Description
An old classic from the Czech Republic featuring small, glistening notably orange-red colored crystals of the rare zeolite species Clinoptilolite-k which have formed semi-"rosette"-esque groups measuring up to 2 mm across sitting on matrix. It's important to note that Clinoptilolite is often white/colorless, so to have crystals with this saturated warm orange-red hue is RARE! These are also quite possibly the most well-known confirmed examples of the species in the world. If you look on mindat.org, there are not many photos of Clinoptilolite-K, and the majority of what is listed comes from Hončova hůrka (hound's howl) Hill. Don't miss out on this beautiful and rare zeolite specimen from this abandoned quarry in the eastern Czech Republic. From the collection of Richard Kosnar (1946-2007), the well-known mineral dealer and collector from Colorado, and the namesake for the phosphate species, Kosnarite.
