Item Description
Clinohumite is typically found in marble deposits, associated with minerals like Spinels, and it forms most often as a replacement of Forsterite (Peridot). With that said, the material is rarely seen in gem quality examples, and until recently the only good stones we had seen were coming out of Tajikistan. Recently there was a very limited discovery of some fine gem grade Clinohumite at the Marble Occurrence in Morogoro, Tanzania. Only a handful of nice stones have been floating around the market, and virtually all of them were scooped up by collectors. This is the first stone of this material that we've ever had to offer. It's different from the material from Tajikistan as it is lighter in color, with more of a golden hue than orange. This stone has a "Brilliant Pear" cut with very very slight inclusions. A fantastic collector's stone from an incredibly hard to find locality. If you collect rare gems or stones from unusual locales, do not pass this one up for a great price.
