Clinohumite in Calcite and Clinochlore

This amazing miniature shows off a 2 cm GEM crystal of the rare mineral clinohumite, with intense red color. When they came out, some were labelled as chondrodite, but they have proved to be clinohumite, Woodside says. This is a complete, freestanding crystal. At the time, circa 2007-8, such pieces were selling for $2000 each in this quality. More came out, but this remains a special and high quality miniature, complete all around. NOTE ADDED: This is actually Hydroxylclinohumite in recent updates to mineral naming...we go with the old name here. AND to make even more confusing, what seems like greenish muscovite is actually Clinochlore - so the specimens often labelled as clinohumite and muscovite or some mica, are actually Hydroxylclinohumite with Clinochlore!
