Item Description

Clinohedrite is one of the species that collectors are always chasing from Franklin. Chemically, it's fairly simplistic (hydrated calcium zinc silicate), but is exceptionally rare around the world as it's only found in a few localitieis. The classic pale lavender color and unique yellowish fluorescence is highly characteristic of the material, and the best pieces are found at Franklin. I photographed the piece under the microscope to illustrate the quality and crystallization. The piece comes from the Rich Kosnar who obtained it from his mentor Pat Gross, who apparently obtained it from noted collector Neal Yedlin as the original plastic mounting box from Pat Gross shows Neal's label still attached!
