Item Description

Penninite is an old-time synonym for pennine, a rare pseudo-trigonal variety of clinochlore. Clinochore is a chlorite group species. "Books" of sharp, platy, pseudohexagonal crystals are attractively clustered on the elongate, CABINET, banded gneiss matrix. The clusters are iron oxide-coated. A few broken or bruising crystals show that they have pearlescent luster and greenish color, like muscovite. Old-time, rich and seldom seen material of this quality from this noted Swiss locale. Ex Howard Belsky Collection.
