Item Description
Opposing clusters of parallel-growth, glassy and lustrous, translucent, off-white albite variety cleavelandite plates form a sculptural and impressive large specimen from one of the many pegmatites of Minas Gerais. The scattered gem, olive-green needle tourmaline crystals, to 2.2 cm, are an outstanding complement. The striking large plates on the back reach 11.1 cm wide. Large cleavelandite specimens with gem tourmaline crystals are uncommon from MInas Gerais and this is an excellent large example. Old material probably from the 1980s-1990s.
