Item Description
Exceptional and rare style large calcite crystal from 1990s finds at this giant Soviet-era skarn iron deposit. A fantastic, pristine, large 10.5 cm doubly-terminated calcite crystal dominates this striking two-sided specimen. The glassy tapered prisms are transparent, colorless, and enhanced by the subtle stepped-growth faces. The pristine, secondary doubly-terminated calcite on the backside is 5.5 cm long. Pink fluorescence due to manganese content is STUNNING. This outstanding calcite is from the Daniel Trinchillo Sr. Collection. It was offered at the September 2008 Dallas Heritage Auction with an estimated value of $3000-3500. It is certainly worth this and more today.
