Item Description
Although Citrine is a fairly common gem on the market, it's important to note that gem quality, NATURAL (un-treated) Citrines are much rarer than some people might realize. A large percentage of the Citrine gems you'll find for sale are actually heated to either create or enhance the color. Typically Amethyst gems are heated to turn them yellow, and since there's an abundance of gem grade Amethyst on the market, it's easy enough to "turn" them into Citrine. Naturally occurring yellow stones are hard to find. Ironically, even though natural Citrine is much harder to find their Amethyst counterparts, they are not nearly as sought after. This stone is a wonderful unheated/untreated Citrine gem with a gorgeous "Concave Round" cut and virtually eye clean clarity from the great Anahi Mine in Bolivia (where the world's finest Ametrines are found). Presumably this stone was cut from the yellow section of an Ametrine crystal, and I can't find any purple whatsoever, so it's pure Citrine.
