Item Description

A large percentage of the faceted Citrine gems on the market have actually been heated in order to create the yellow color. These stones often start out as Amethyst gems or rough, which are in turn heated to a precise temperature and they will turn yellow. This is a well-known practice in the gem world, but should always be disclosed to the buyer. With that said, I can't say for certain if THIS gem has been heated, as it does have a fairly gentle light yellow hue, which is not as easy to produce in a heated stone. I also can't say for certain that it's 100% natural, so I have to err on the side of caution and say it's likely that it's been heated. This stone is a beautiful "Trillion Brilliant" gem with eye-clean clarity.
From the collection of Geary Murdock.
