Cinnabar with Mercury (classic locale)

Item Description

Very showy and rich two-sided mercury ore specimen from the classic, ancient and extinct mercury mines of Almaden, Spain. Vugs and faces on both sides of the blocky, solid, rich massive Cinnabar matrix host lustrous, cherry-red Cinnabar crystal and crystal sections. The large 6 mm crystal in the large frontal vug is pristine. A small 9 mm secondary vug on the back side has a few scattered, sub-millimeter Mercury droplets. The mines produced for over 2700 years and produced approximately one-third of the total world production.
