According to the listing on mindat.org, Cinnabar has been mined at the Chatian Mine for over 2,000 years! This small cabinet specimen is a wonderful example of this classic material featuring a very well-formed, rich metallic red color, gemmy / translucent twinned crystal group of Cinnabar, measuring 1.6 cm surrounded by tiny white pearly rhombs of Dolomite on host rock matrix. You can clearly see the classic "drillbit" termination when you view the Cinnabar up close. No major damage, and the color really comes through when the piece is backlit. A wonderful specimen with great color and form, and these specimens aren't as common as they once were, so don't miss out. Priced in the inventory at $950.
