Item Description

Rare sharp, wine-red to blood-red Cinnabar crystals, to 4 mm, are dramatically and richly festooned with contrasting drusy quartz and tiny quartz crystals on the miniature sandstone matrix wedge. This rare specimen is from a very obscure aptly named mercury prospect in Pike County, Arkansas. Ex Don Owens Collection. Don was the Chief Geologist at the old Union Carbide vanadium mine in Arkansas and we recently obtained his collection.
