Item Description
A wonderful old-time specimen of the classic Chinese Cinnabar specimens from the Wanshan Mercury Ore Field in China. These specimens have been known for decades, and are true icons from China. This piece hosts a sharp, well-formed, intense metallic red color "drill bit"-twinned crystal of Cinnabar flaring aesthetically out of cream-colored rhombic Dolomite crystals on matrix. The Cinnabar twin measures 3.1 cm long. This is an older specimen dating back about 30-40 years. Please note that the lower front section of the Cinnabar twin is contacted, and there are a few small nicks around the termination, so it's not damage free, but it's still a big twin on matrix, and a very eye-catching example of these beloved specimens.
