Cinnabar (RARE locality specimen) (ex Al Kidwell Collection)

Item Description

This is the FIRST specimen we've ever had to offer from this locality. It's the only specimen of Cinnabar I've ever seen from this mine. The piece is labeled as coming from "Saint Alto, Zacatecas", which means it has to be from the Santa Lucia Mine, because it's the only locality where Cinnabar is located. If you're a collector of Mexican minerals, or rare locality specimens, do not miss out on this one. The piece is covered with micro / crystalline carmine colored Cinnabar intermixed with minor Quartz on host rock matrix. The Cinnabar is best viewed under magnification, but it's still From the worldwide mineral collection of Albert Lewis Kidwell (January 1, 1919 - August 16, 2008). Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas.
