Item Description

This lesser-known mercury deposit dates back to the 1914 according to the entry on mindat.org, and specimens are virtually unseen in today's market. This piece is a lovely example of these rare and beautiful Cinnabars featuring rich crimson colored, metallic twinned crystals measuring up to about 4 mm, sitting on matrix. The crystals are best seen with magnficiation, and we've done our best to illustrate them in the photos. This one is all about the locality, and would make a cool esoteric addition to a sulfide suite or a collection of minerals from the former Soviet Union.
