A 2.4 cm, splendent, interpenetrating, twinned, cinnabar crystal is aestheticaly perched atop a curved, backbone-shaped cluster of lustrous, cream-colored dolomite rhombs on this outstanding specimen from Tongren, China, the premier locality for fine cinnabar crystals. The crystal has this beautiful, "ruby-silver" look to it, just like proustite or pyragyrite crystals! The backlit photo highlights the gorgeous, red color saturation and gemminess of this very fine cinnabar crystal. This striking cutie looks great from either side and is pristine. It is a superb example of the combination, species and locale, especially for a miniature. Comparable have sold for $1000-$2000.
