Item Description
Cinnabar is a well-known sulfide species, and of the few that actually passes light, showing a glowing red hue, similar to Proustite. There are a few localities in China where some of the finest examples of the species have been found in terms of quality, crystallization, size and color/gemminess. This attractive specimen features excellent, lustrous, well-formed crystals of Cinnabar measuring up to 1.2 cm sitting on Dolomite with associated Quartz on matrix. The Cinnabars have a deep reddish metallic appearance in reflected light, but when backlit they have a deep glowing blood red hue! Very little damage that I can see, and it's a very showy display specimen to boot!
