Cinnabar (old classic) (ex Al Kidwell Collection)

Item Description

A classic old time Cinnabar specimen from this signature mercury mine in Italy. The Siele Mine was abandoned in 1974, so it's safe to say that this piece is almost certainly 50+ years old. The piece is a very attractive small cabinet display specimen featuring beautiful bright red crystal clusters of Cinnabar associated with Calcite, Dolomite and Quartz on limestone matrix. You never see these on the market, and if you collect sulfides or old European classics, don't pass this one up, you may not see another one for many years to come. From the worldwide mineral collection of Albert Lewis Kidwell (January 1, 1919 - August 16, 2008). Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas.
