Item Description

A historic, exceedingly rich and showy specimen of mercury ore from the important New Almaden mining District of California. Two faces of the matrix are richly covered with lustrous, translucent, blood-red cinnabar microcrystals. Seldom seen in this richness and quality, I amd told - And, I have never even seen ONE good one for sale. Ex New York State Museum and, according to their label, also from the George Kunz Collection. Kunz lived in the NY area and travelled much to CA. He died in 1932. For what this is, a historic specimen from a mining district of huge industrial import at the time, this is a nice relic with a fine pedigree. Value?
