Item Description

A RARE and aesthetic Chinese miniature of cinnabar included in a nearly transparent, glassy quartz crystal jauntily set in dolomite and quartz matrix from the famous Tongren area. The quartz crystal has a pleasing, very sharp termination, that is very nearly pristine, with only the faintest of edgewear. Certainly not a detraction, as you can see, for such a rarity. SELDOM do you see cinnabar included in quartz like this. Ex J.R. Glover Collection to Dick Hauck collection. Said to have come only from one pocket in the 1980s.
