The ancient mercury mines at Almedan have been in production since the Roman Age, 2000 years! This is an showy, old-time, rich and hefty mercury ore specimen from this historic district. Lustrous, deep wine-red cinnabar crystals to about 5 mm are richly scattered on the vuggy massive cinnabar matrix. Ex Robert Chadbourne Collection according to the Bob Trimingham label.
