Item Description
A hard to find example of the Cinnabars from Charcas! I've only seen a few of these over the years and they are certainly desirable from the collector's standpoint as they make great additions to Mexican mineral collections. This piece features sharp, well-formed, lustrous, electric red colored crystals of Cinnabar measuring up to 3 mm with Calcite on matrix. Good quality despite a few rough spots, and some of the crystals are just beautiful to view under magnification. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1985). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
