Item Description

Weirdly shaped cinnabar crystals, to 1.3 cm, are artistically clustered in a vug lined with drusy quartz on this dramatic older Chinese specimen. The deep wine-red crystals glow with cherry-red color when backlit and look like pieces of modern sculpture! The quartz veins and seams, along with the laminated, metamorphic matrix add more drama and pizzazz to this fine and uncommon specimen from an unknown mercury mine in Hunan Province. Doug Parsons was one of the first Western mineral dealers to bring Chinese specimens to the US and his label dates to the mid to late 1980s.
