Item Description

A 1.2 cm, very sharp, lustrous, very well-formed, fine red color, gemmy crystal of Cinnabar nicely sitting on pearly Dolomite on matrix. A pretty piece with good color, and they aren't as common as they once were, especially with such fine larger isolated crystals like this. A classic specimen of this well-known material. This deposit accounts for 50% of all the mercury deposits in China! This specimen comes from an old East Coast collection, with a label from noted New York mineral dealer, Larry Conklin. Good quality all around, only a tiny nick to the main Cinnabar crystal.
