Item Description

Sharp augite crystals are known from the Usti Region of the Czech Republic, but are EXTREMELY RARE from the Bilina area. This is a doubly rare specimen, being a pseudomorph after a sharp augite crystal. Cimolite, an unidentifiable clay named after a Greek island, has replaced two intergrown augite crystals. The sharp three-sided terminated pseudo has classic augite prismatic form. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 4534 and acquired from Al McGuinness in the mid 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A very RARE and outstanding older pseudomorph from this locale.
