Item Description
This piece was originally labeled as coming from Mount Mare, Transvaal, South Africa, but I can't find a listing for the species from this locality. The piece is a very attractive, well-crystallized, thick, prismatic, fibroua group with a distinctive silvery-blue color and thin "hair"-like crystals which are "peeling" off the side. The piece is in great shape overall and really looks good up close. This is not a sliced or polished piece, but a completely crystallized display specimen of this Serpentine group species. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1902). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
