Chrysoprase is the rich green colored, nickel-bearing variety of Chalcedony (cryptocrystalline Quartz). Some of the finest examples of the material in the world come from Australia. The color is not just caused by nickel, but rather nickel-bearing phyllosilicate minerals included inside the Chalcedony / Quartz. This stone is a very attractive, INTENSE emerald green, translucent, "Step Oval" cut gem with excellent consistency of color. The very best of this material is highly prized by collectors, and this gem is very good quality for Chrysoprase, as they are rarely this gemmy. It's also rare to see faceted stones of the material, especially with such strong hues. You'd be hard-pressed to find a richer color Chrysoprase than this stone.
