Here we have a wonderfully richly colored and GEMMY Chrysoprase from Australia. Chrysoprase is a nickel-bearing variety of Chalcedony (a variety of Quartz), and the best rough material in the world is found in this country. The very best of this material is highly prized by collectors, and this gem is fine quality for Chrysoprase, as they are rarely this gemmy, especially in this size! This stone is a very attractive, strong emerald green, translucent, "Round Step" cut gem with excellent consistency of color. This is old material dating back about 30 years, and seldom seen on the market today.
