Chrysoprase is a nickel-bearing variety of Chalcedony (a translucent variety of Quartz), and the best examples in the world come from Australia. This stone is a from an older find in the 1980s and a very attractive, rich blue-green, translucent, "Step Oval" cut gem with great consistency of color. The very best of this material is highly prized by collectors, and this gem is excellent quality for Chrysoprase, as these stones are rarely this GEMMY, especially in this size!
