Item Description
The cut and polished face has vivid, lustrous, translucent rich apple-green color on this sculptural miniature chrysoprase nodule. The bit of contrasting matrix adds color and character. This shapely and beautiful piece is from a recent 2018-19 find at this historic old nickel deposit, mined since the Middle Ages and finally abandoned in 1980 (MINDAT). Chrysoprase is the apple-green variety of chalcedony. The color is caused by tiny inclusions of Nickel-bearing layered silicates. Excellent quality material from the find and GLOWS, when backlit. 22 grams mass.
