Item Description
Vivid apple-green color, luster and translucence on the cut and polished face on this sculptural miniature chrysoprase nodule. Nearly solid chrysoprase, the bit of included matrix adds contrast and color. The fine piece is from a recent 2018-19 find at this historic old nickel deposit, mined since the Middle Ages and finally abandoned in 1980 (MINDAT). Chrysoprase is the apple-green variety of chalcedony. The color is caused by tiny inclusions of Nickel-bearing layered silicates. Nodule mass is 34 grams. Excellent quality material from the find and GLOWS, when backlit.
