Item Description

A thin crust encases two sides of this beautiful and sculptural 360-degree vein of chrysoprase on this showy specimen from a NEW FIND at this historic old nickel deposit, mined since the Middle Ages and finally abandoned in 1980 (MINDAT). The one sawed and polished face brings out the high lustre of the the glorious, lustrous, translucent, apple-green chrysoprase. Chrysoprase is the apple-green variety of chalcedony. The color is caused by tiny inclusions of Nickel-bearing layered silicates. High quality material from a new find and GLOWS, when backlit.
