Item Description

A striking and sculptural solid nodule of glorious, lustrous, translucent, rich apple-green Chrysoprase from a NEW FIND at this historic old nickel deposit, mined since the Middle Ages and finally abandoned in 1980 (MINDAT). One face has been sawed and polished to bring out the incredibly rich green hue. This is a beautiful and striking piece of Chrysoprase. Chrysoprase is the apple-green variety of chalcedony. The color is caused by tiny inclusions of Nickel-bearing layered silicates. High quality material from a new find and GLOWS, when backlit.
