Chrysoprase is defined as a green, nickel-bearing variety of Chalcedony, which is a cryptocrystalline variety of Quartz. Some of the finest quality examples of Chrysoprase in the world are found in Australia. Here we have a fantastic "Oval" cut gem of this well-known material with a saturated emerald green color and good internal translucency when backlit. The very best gems of this material are highly prized by collectors, and this gem is fine quality for Chrysoprase, with wonderful consistency of color and transparency.
