Item Description

A classic specimen of the famous Chrysocolla / drusy Quartz combinations from the Inspiration Mine in the Globe-Miami District of Gila County, Arizona. The piece started out as spherical Malachite (possibly replacing Azurite) on matrix which was coated by beautiful sky blue Chrysocolla, and then another generation of sugary drusy Quartz came in at the end. There are at least three generations of deposition present on this piece. You can see the exposed Malachite on the sides of the specimen which formed in radial "needle"-like growths. A cool phenomenon in the mineral world, and wonderfully colorful to boot. The largest "ball" measures 2.1 cm across.
