Item Description
From the collection of noted collector of Arizona goodies, Evan Jones, and traded to me recently, this is a most unusual chrysocolla specimen from Miami. These old classics are famous for having both beauty and style, but this one has more not only does it have several sharp crystals of azurite replaced by chrysocolla, to about an inch, but it also has a stalactite in opposition. I have never seen the two together - only one or the other form. Usually these specimens are quite expensive, and I have seen several trade hands in the five figures. This is a good one. I happened to get it amortised in a big trade, and so will risk losing a bit in value at auction. That doesn't mean that I or you should discount its value, just because I am willing to liquidate at auction. I think it would be quite fairly valued at $3000-5000 at a show with most dealers for the quality of the crystals, for the size and beauty of the piece, and for the unusual nature of it having both stalactites of chrysocolla and replacements of large 1-inch azurite crystals by the same species. As a bonus, it has good provenance as Evan's is one of the best Arizona collections ever put together, most would say.
