Item Description
This piece came labeled as coming from "Karpinsk", which was probably a valid locality decades ago, but I can't find any modern listing for it. I believe the piece is probably from the well-known area around Nizhnii Tagil as mining dates back to the turn of the 20th century, and the label states that it was mined prior to 1900. Bands of rich blue-green colored Chrysocolla can be seen throughout the host rock matrix. A really interesting and hard to find old timer that dates back over 100 years. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8059). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
