Item Description

A killer old-time specimen of the famous Quartz / Chrysocolla pieces from the Ray Mine. These specimens are the finest representations of this combination of species in the mineral world. This piece features a glowing blue-green layer of Chrysocolla which has, in turn, been covered with a druse of sparkling Quartz on a thin amount of matrix. The color of the Chrysocolla is a superb hue, and a perfect combination of blue and green. The scintillating drusy Quartz accentuates the color and richness of the piece making these classic specimens highly desired among collectors not only by those specializing in Arizona or copper minerals but collectors in general due to their uniqueness and "displayability" from this classic old locality. This is an excellent piece for the overall form and size as well as good color intensity. Old classic material, seldom seen on the market today. This piece comes from the inventory of a well-known Arizona gemstone and jewelry dealer, and the periphery of the stone has been cut and polished, presumably because it was slated to be used in a custom piece of jewelry. Excellent quality, color and an important piece of Arizona mining history. Specimen weight is 56.25 carats. Priced in the inventory at $2,800 retail.
