Chrysocolla and Quartz, with Malachite, on Cuprite ex Szenics coll

Found by Terry Szenics over several years of collecting at Inca de Oro, these Chrysocolla and Quartz specimens can be stunning, and in this case, SHOCKINGLY blue. Usually, in thin sheets, Chrysocolla rarely develops into spheres, and I suspect balls of Malachite of the progenitors for these. The largest sphere is an amazing 2.6 cm across. The coating of drusy Quartz adds a gorgeous sparkle to the Chrysocolla, and the 'crackling' pattern that causes these to resemble geodesic domes adds to the spectacular aesthetics. The matrix is Cuprite as if you needed any more reason to love this piece. The best pieces have this intense blue color, and the overall combined effect is stunning. Chet Lemanski purchased this from Szenics' collection when he sold part of it, in the 1990s. This is a large, dramatic, incredibly beautiful example with a "big ball" for the style.
