Item Description
Alexandrite is the green chromian variety of chrysoberyl that exibits a color change in natural and artificial light from green to amethystine (Alexandrite effect). This striking thumbnail has the most unusual twinned form we have seen from here. It looks like a partial sixling with an extremely sharp notch. The sharp, lustrous and translucent crystal exhibits the typical pleochroism characteristic of alexandrite - the color change of green to purple (violet) to red-violet. 14.58 carats or nearly 3 grams mass. A most fascinating, unusual and rare style alexandrite from here.
