Item Description
Alexandrite is the green gem variety of chrysoberyl that exibits a color change in natural and artificial light from green to amethystine (Alexandrite effect). This classic fine thumbnail is from the famous Type Locality area in Russia. A floater crystal, it is a sharp cyclic-twin with textbook beveled edges. Pristine, a couple of edges are lightly contacted, but have no damage, per se. Depending on the light source, the partially translucent crystal shows the classic green turning to purple and pink. Old-time, pre-World War I Imperial Russia material. Ex Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection and obtained in a trade with the Casellato Collection in 1960. These old classics are highly sought after and valued today!
