Item Description

Some of the most classic Chrysoberyl specimens in the world are those from Espirito Santo in the southeastern end of Brazil. These specimens exhibit one of the most recognized and celebrated twinning habits for the species. This piece has the classic yellow-green color and a beautiful "heart"-shaped twinning habit. All of the faces are notably sharp, lustrous and smooth. No major damage that I can find, just a few tiny imperfections. A great old Brazilian classic that dates back to the early 1970s. From the collection of Richard Kosnar, noted mineral collector and dealer from Colorado (1946-2007) and the namesake for phosphate mineral Kosnarite. Rich started his career in the mineral world importing gems and gem minerals from Brazil in the 1970s, and this piece remained in his collection until he passed.
