Item Description
A very rarely seen specimen of Chromite, not due to the rarity of the species, but the locality! How often does one have the opportunity to get their hands on a mineral specimen from Cuba? This piece came to us from an old East Coast collection, and is accompanied by a label from noted mineral dealer Hugh A. Ford. Since the label has Ford's New York address it dates to 1946-1957. There is also an old hand-written partial piece of paper with the piece that mentions the words Chromite and Cuba, but it's not complete, so it's hard to tell what else was written. The piece is essentially a solid crystalline mass of solid black Chromite with a semi-waxy luster, free of matrix. Don't miss out on this chance to pick up a 60+ year old specimen from a country that few people have a specimen in their collections.
