Item Description
Amesite is a rare magnesium kaolinite-serpentine group silicate mineral found in low-grade metamorphic rocks. Chrome amesite is even rarer. Scintillating, metallic-lavender platelets richly cover the chrome ore matrix on this very showy specimen from the Saranovskii Mine of the Urals. A couple of snow-white calcite rhombs are a nice accent. The base and two sides have been sawed to enhance the display quality, and the piece displays well without aid. This is a fine example of the rare species and locale.
