Item Description

Amesite is a rare magnesium kaolinite-serpentine group silicate mineral found in low-grade metamorphic rocks. Chrome amesite is even rarer. Scintillating, metallic-lavender platelets richly cover both sides of the CABINET wedge matrix on this very showy specimen from the Saranovskii Mine of the Urals. The snow-white calcite is a super accent. The base has been sawed to enhance the display quality, and the piece displays well without aid. This is a very large and fine example of the rare species and locale.
