Chrome Tourmaline

This material is some of the most beautiful and unique Tourmaline I've seen. Although there have been crystals and mineral specimens of this material on the market for a few years, rarely are they clean enough to cut stones. This "Round Brilliant" cut gem shows a beautiful green color (with a slight yellow overtone). The presence of chromium, a strong chromophore in the gem world, is what causes this green color. The gem is nearly eye-clean, which is important to note as Tourmaline is classified as a "Type 3" gemstone, which means inclusions are almost always present, and accepted by dealers and collectors.
