Chrome Tourmaline

This material is some of the most fascinating Tourmaline I've seen. There were crystals of this material on the market years ago, but rare were they clean enough to cut stones. The strong color is due to the presence of chromium, which is a strong chromophore in the mineral world, creating some of the most vivid colors in certain minerals. This gem actually does a color change/shift depending on what kind of lighting it is viewed. The stone sometimes appears to have an imperial green color, which shifts to a yellow-green in different lighting. The stone is virtually eye clean with a "round brilliant" cut. A really interesting Tourmaline gem and some special material on a worldwide level !
